Solar Panels Interesting Facts

A Solar panel is assembled through the joining of unified solar cells, which are also known as photovoltaic cells. Photovoltaic cells are required for the phase where an electrical device converts the light energy into electricity, which they do via the use of the photovoltaic effect. "Photovoltaic" is field of research related to the process of photovoltaic cells producing light energy from sunlight, which can then be converted to electrical energy.

The assembly of photovoltaic cells to make solar modules, which can effectively capture the energy of the sunlight, is then called solar panels, which in turn generate energy which is called solar power. Solar energy primarily uses light and heat from the sun, which we have used since ancient times, but never as efficiently and on such a large scale as now.

Solar technologies are generally characterised depending on how they capture energy; it can be either passive solar or active solar. Passive solar use involves conductors like windows, walls, floors which have been made to collect the suns energy and then distributes that energy in the form of heat. It is called passive because it doesn't use or involve any devices.

Active solar technologies on the other hand convert solar energy to usable heat, light or cooling, and can store that energy for future purposes. Unlike the passive solar, active solar uses electrical and mechanical equipment like pumps and fans to increase the usable heat in a system, and thus increase its possible energy output.

There are a lot of advantages to using solar power such as; it has become much cheaper than some other methods, and it is nature friendly because the process has a low production of pollution. The only pollution associated with solar panels or solar energy is the production of the cell and its transportation to our homes. Another advantage is the source energy of the solar panels is highly renewable, unlike the diminishing fossil fuel energy sources used by the majority of current electricity supply.

Also solar panels have advantages in being able to bring electricity to remote places and areas where it is hard to construct natural source of the electricity. This is a huge advantage in Australia with its vast tracts of isolated land with low populations. Once installed solar panels require only little maintenance and can be used with batteries & a back-up generator to prove fully independent "off grid" sources of power.

The only disadvantages of solar power is the initial investment which is quiet expensive, but as it starts paying for itself immediately via significant savings off your electric bill, after doing the numbers you will realize what a good long term investment your solar panels will be. Imagine freeing yourself from the stress of exponentially increasing electricity bills with a solar power system that will take 4-7 years to pay off but supply clean renewable energy for you for at least 20 years.
