Facts about the Sun and Solar Energy

Solar energy primarily only requires the power of the sun. The sun is the center of our solar system, and some consider it as the largest star in the world. It is almost perfectly spherical in shape, has a diameter of about 1,392,000 km, (as compared with the Earth which has a diameter of 12 756km) and a mass of about 21030 kilograms, 330,000 times that of Earth. The outer layer of the sun is called Photospheres and appears mottled because of the turbulent eruption of energy on its surface.

The core of the sun is about 25% of its total diameter, 347,500 km, and it is considered the hottest part of the sun, with a temperature of 15,000,000° C or 27,000,000° F! The core also the area of the sun where solar energy takes place, which is considered to be a nuclear reaction. This nuclear reaction creates nuclei to fuse together to then produce alpha particles and the helium nucleus. This mass is expelled to become energy, and carried to the sun's surface through the process of convection.

Convection is the movement of molecules through liquids and gas, but not through solids because no significant diffusion can take place in solid forms. Convection is the major mode whereby heat and mass are able to be transferred, and this heat produced by the sun is ultimately used by us in the production of electricity via photovoltaic cells in solar panels.

Solar panel is one of the newest ways that we have of producing electricity on a large scale, and it is also one of the most preferred alternatives because it is user friendly for many reasons.

One primarily reason is that it is natural and produces less pollution as compared to our common fossil fuel derived sources of electricity. Also it is much cheaper, is renewable, and always readily available. The only cost is the initial purchase and installation, but if you add up the expenses from your monthly electricity bill you will come to realize that you can save much more than you expected; depending on the KWh size of the solar panel system you install it will pay for itself within 4-7 years, and keep producing clean solar energy for you for at least 20.

Solar panels are now widely use all over the world, and as it has becomes a more and more desirable alternative energy source a lot of companies are dedicating extensive research into how to improve the manufacture and construction. Every year solar power is becoming more convenient, more productive & cost effective to use, and more readily available to average consumers.

Premier Solar is committed to being Australia's leading Solar Power & Renewable Energy solutions provider for both homes and medium to large scale commercial solar projects. We are specialists in effective and affordable solar PV panel System design and use only fully certified installers and product components which pass all government standards and certifications, to enable our customers to access full discounts and rebates, as well enjoy the peace of mind of 25 year warranties from long established manufacturers.
